Posing for Photos: A Beginners Guide to the Best Shot

Now that we have our equipment, we can start to start to enjoy our hobby. One of the things about a camera you can take it almost anywhere and find the perfect subject/inspiration at any time. Your subject/inspiration do not have to be one thing just something that is appealing to you. There are many subject you can choose and require different techniques.

Let’s start with some of the common subjects: portraits, landscape, animals and action. As a beginner this is the time to play and be creative. All of the subjects I mention are around us every day and we have easy access to these subjects.

·      Portraits are photos that are taken of a person or persons. In a portrait the photographer is looking to capturing the subject or subjects’ expression, mood or personality. We all have experience with this type of subject, most of us use our phones to capture a moment with friends. This is the same idea but a little more formal and posed.

·      Landscape photography usually are pictures that are taken of the pureness presence of nature, an unsullied portrayal lacking of human interaction.

·      Animals as a subject is one of my favorite types of theme, the have an untainted wholesomeness about them. Be assured taking photos for your pet and animal in the wild are going to be total different engagement. Photographing animals in the wild can sometimes cross with action shots.

·      Action photographs are the most difficult of type of subject. This subject does take some practice and require patience. The ability to choose the correct exposure and configuration while being focused takes some practice. These are phots where you will have some amount of blur in the background. It all comes down to the knowledge and understanding of what you are trying to highlight in your picture.

Just remember that this is supposed to be fun! Your mistakes are lessons learned and experiences to grow from. Just start with what you are comfortable with and there is always the next shot and believe me you will have plenty to choose from and many more moments to capturer. Enjoy your new hobby!
